Automated currency exchange procedure when paying by card

When paying by any Visa payment card, its account currency being the Litas:

  • payment currency within the European Economic Area (EEA) states (whose national currency is the Euro) shall be automatically exchanged based the Bank’s established non cash selling rate effective on the day of the funds debiting to the payment account;
  • in non EEA states, the amount of payment (foreign currency) shall be exchanged with the Euro based on the settlement rate established by Visa, which rate is valid on the transaction data processing day, whereas the Euros shall be exchanged with the Litas based the Bank’s established non cash selling rate effective on the day of the funds debiting to the account. To the payment rate established by international payment card association Visa Europe, if a relevant transaction currency is other than the Euro, the following currency exchange fee is added: 3 per cent, if a credit is used; and 1.25 per cent, if a debit card is used.

When paying by any Visa payment card, its account currency being the Euro or the US Dollar, at points of sale which use:

  • the Bank's owned payment card equipment, payment currency (the Litas) shall be automatically exchanged with the Euro or US Dollar, based on the Bank’s established non cash selling rate effective on the day of the funds debiting to the account;
  • payment card equipment owned by other banks, payment currency shall be automatically exchanged with the Euro or the US Dollar, based on the exchange rate established by international organisation Visa (www.visa.com) valid on the transaction data processing day.

When paying by any-type MasterCard payment card (MasterCard, Maestro), the currency in which the payment account is managed shall be automatically exchanged with the payment currency based on the exchange rate established by MasterCard (www.mastercard.com) valid on the transaction data processing day.
