Preventive protection of payment cards

To ensure secure online shopping by our customers, we recommend enabling the online card payment feature only when necessary. There are several options to enable this feature: on the Internet Bank, mobile app, by calling +370 5 268 2800 or by visiting the SEB bank branch.

Moreover, by complying with the highest standards of customer funds protection, we use an effective protection system of payment cards that prevents many illegal card payments abroad and online.

1. The list of foreign countries in which we recommend notifying SEB bank prior to cash withdrawal from ATMs more than once a day:

American Samoa, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Brunei, Bhutan, Chile, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Fiji, Philippines, Falkland (Malvinas) Islands, Guyana, Grenada, Guam, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Japan, USA, Yemen, Cayman Islands, Christmas Island, Cambodia, China, Kiribati, Colombia, Comoros, Cuba, Cook Islands, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Malawi, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Mexico, Myanmar, Micronesia, Mongolia, Montserrat, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Nauru, Nepal, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Niue, Norfolk Island, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Peru, South Korea, Pitcairn Islands, Puerto Rico, Equatorial Guinea, Timor-Leste, Solomon Islands, El Salvador, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Singapore, Suriname, Swaziland, Sri Lanka, Saint Helena, Tajikistan, Thailand, Taiwan, Turks and Caicos, Tokelau, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Venezuela, Vietnam, Wallis and Futuna – these countries and territories are subject to the limit of one operation of cash withdrawal from ATMs per day, as they do not use the secure card chip technology (EMV).

Please note that payment or cash withdrawal with VISA and Mastercard payment cards is currently unavailable in Iran, Sudan, Crimea, North Korea, Venezuela and Syria.

2. To avoid potential inconveniences, you should notify SEB bank of your future travel to the above countries in advance:

  • by logging in to the Internet Bank and choosing “Cards” → “My cards” → “Card” → “Change data” → “Country/territory not subject to restrictions”;
  • by calling +370 5 268 2800;
  • by sending a message on the Internet Bank, under “Messages”.


On the Internet Bank, restrictions are lifted for a period of 2 weeks. To lift restrictions for a shorter or longer period, please use other methods to contact SEB bank.

If you fail to pay by card, immediately call us +370 5 268 2800 and, having picked the answerphone item “Payment card blocking”, report the issue.

The employee of SEB bank may lift your card payment restrictions for a certain period of time (while you are staying abroad).
