Preemptive protection of payment cards

In keeping with the highest level of customer protection requirements, we are using an effective protection system of payment cards that prevents many illegal card payments abroad and online. Therefore, please inform the bank in case of intention to use the payment card in the countries that are included in the list of high-risk countries.

In the year 2014, the Bank of Lithuania has approved the Minimum Requirements for the Security of Internet Payments.  Seeking to ensure the possibility for our customers to buy purchase goods or services securely online, any new card or a renewed card will be issued by the bank without the possibility to pay by card online. You may conveniently and safely activate the payment by card online functionality by phone  +370 5 268 2800 on a 24-hour basis or by visiting any unit of AB SEB bankas.

In line with the highest customer money protection standards, we have been using an efficient payment card protection system since 2009 which can prevent many unauthorised payments by card abroad and online.

When payments by card are made in Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Columbia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Namibia, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam or the USA and on the websites of companies registered in these countries, the preemptive bank card protection system checks the entire payment transaction before money is deposited from the account tied to the card. If it is suspected that payment has not been authorised, the transaction is suspended and the cardholder is not able to pay by card.

You can avoid potential problems by notifying SEB bank about the intended trip in advance. At your request, limits may be lifted for the entire duration of your travel.

If you are unable to make payment by card, please immediately call the 24/7 line of SEB bank at +370 5 268 2800 and report the event by choosing Payment Card Blocking from the answering machine menu. An employee of SEB bank who will take your call can temporarily (while you are abroad or until you make your first payment on the online banking site) lift the limits applicable to your payments by card.
