Sending cards by mail

Convenient method of receiving a debit card

  • It is unnecessary to visit the bank for obtaining your debit card – we can send it by post
  • The card may be mailed to your home address, work address or any other address in Lithuania or abroad – where you spend most of your time, where it would be the most convenient for you.

Until now private customers who ordered a new debit card at a SEB bank unit had to come to the bank once again to collect the card and its PIN code. Now there is no need to come back. We can send you the new debit card and its PIN code by mail.

Specify where and how the card is to be delivered

When you order a new debit card at a bank unit, please specify where and how the card is to be delivered We can send a new debit card:

  • to anywhere in Lithuania:
    • by unregistered mail (free of charge)
    • by registered mail (personal delivery subject to a EUR 1.45 / LTL 5 charge)
  • abroad by unregistered mail (at a charge of EUR 5.79 / LTL 20)

Sending a card by mail is secure

Cash held in the account of the debit card sent by mail is secure because the card is not activated before dispatch. The card can be used only after its activation. In addition, the card and its PIN code are sent at different times and in different envelopes.

If your debit card is approaching the expiration date (relevant information is announced on the Internet Bank, and if you ordered reminders, you may learn about it by SMS or by email), you will receive a reminder about the card expiration date and an invitation to select your card mailing address.

You may change the card mailing address in several ways by the date specified in the reminder:

If you are willing, you can obtain your card at any unit of the bank (the service price – EUR 2).

The card sending by mail is secure

Cash held in the debit card account sent by mail is secure because the card is not activated before dispatch. The card can be used only after its activation. The PIN code of the renewed card is unchanged (the former card PIN code remains effective) and is not sent by mail.

The renewed debit card must be activated within 60 days from its dispatch date. The card may be activated in three ways:

  • on the Internet Bank – you need to enter a special code, which is specified in the card activation instruction sent together with the card
  • at any ATM in Lithuania or abroad when performing any standard transaction (e.g. when checking the account balance), you have to enter a correct PIN code
  • at any unit of SEB bankas

  • Once you receive your debit card by mail, please make sure that your name and surname is specified correctly.
  • Sign on the signature panel on the back side of the card.
  • If you have received at least one damaged envelope or have suspicion that the card or PIN code may have been used by unauthorised persons, do not activate the card and return the envelope with the card and PIN code to SEB bank. A reissued card can be collected from the bank only.
  • Keep the PIN code of your new card confidential. Never write it down on the card itself, do not keep together with the payment card (in your wallet, written down on a sheet of paper, etc.) Preferably, the PIN code should be memorised and the envelope containing the PIN code destroyed.
  • Once the renewed payment card is activated, the old one can no longer be used. Use scissors to cut your old payment card
  • If you have received a wrong payment card, please return it to SEB bank.
