The cornerstone of your financial activity

  • You can keep and manage funds in different currencies in one account

Nowadays, if you want to take care of your financial needs smartly, a bank account is a must. With a bank account you can perform required transactions online, on your cell phone or at a bank unit with speed and convenience.

The head of a company or his or her authorised person can open a bank account by visiting a bank unit of their choice.

When you have a bank account, you can:

  • Withdraw cash in euro or in a foreign currency
  • Receive funds in euro or in a foreign currency to the account from other accounts
  • Transfer money to other accounts in Lithuania and abroad
  • Buy and sell foreign currency
  • Transfer salaries to your staff from the account
  • Order the bank to debit a specified amount from the account to different remittees

A company’s bank account may be opened by its head or by his or her authorised person (subject to presenting a notarized power of attorney). To open a bank account, you need to visit a SEB bank unit of your choice and submit the documentation prescribed by Lithuanian law.

What documentation should be submitted when opening a bank account?

When a bank account is opened for a legal entity registered in Lithuania

  • The original copy of an expanded extract from the Register of Legal Entities (must be issued not earlier than six months before the legal entity applies to the bank asking to open an account) or the access code of SE Centre of Registers required to obtain an electronic certified extract on a legal entity
  • The original copies or transcript of the company's incorporation documents (Articles of Association, regulations, etc.)
  • A joint activity agreement or its transcript if the legal entity is a general or limited partnership
  • The original copy or transcript of the decision of the management body of the legal entity which testifies to the appointment or election of the head and to his or her right to dispose of the funds contained in the account, where this is not established in the incorporation documents
  • A power of attorney approved by the head or by a different management body of the legal entity to sign a bank account agreement if the agreement is signed by the authorised person of the legal entity (if the legal entity is not the bank's client, the power of attorney must be notarized)
  • The relevant identity document of the person who signs the agreement:
    • Passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania
    • Personal identity card of the Republic of Lithuania
    • Passport of a citizen of a foreign state
    • Personal identity card of an EU Member State, Liechtenstein or Switzerland
    • Permit for temporary or permanent residence in the Republic of Lithuania
    • Foreigner's passport of the Republic of Lithuania
  • Company seal if such is required by founding documents or by laws
  • Sample card of signatures and seal (to be completed at the bank)
  • Application to Open a Bank Account (to be completed at the bank)
  • Questionnaire for Legal Entities (PDF, 800 KB) and Questionnaire of the Ultimate Beneficial Owner (PDF, 500 KB), if the ultimate beneficial owner (beneficiary) of the funds contained in the account is another person

Any transcripts of documents filed at the bank must be notarized.

The bank may ask you for additional documentation, information or explanation where this is required according to laws and regulations.

When a bank account is opened for a legal entity not registered in Lithuania

  • Original copy or transcript of an extract from the Register of Legal Entities (issued not earlier than three months before the legal entity applies to the bank asking to open an account) or the original copy or transcript of company's Certificate of Incorporation
  • Original copies or transcript of the company's incorporation documents (Articles of Association, regulations, etc.)
  • Transcript of the decision of the management body of the legal entity which testifies to the appointment or election of the head and to his or her right to dispose of the funds contained in the account, where this is not established in the incorporation documents
  • Power of attorney to sign a bank account agreement issued by the head or other management body of the legal entity, if the agreement is signed by a person authorised by the legal entity
  • Relevant identity document of the person who signs the agreement:
    • Passport or personal identity card of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania
    • Passport of a citizen of a foreign state
    • Personal identity card of an EU Member State, Liechtenstein or Switzerland
    • Permit for temporary or permanent residence in the Republic of Lithuania
    • Foreigner's passport of the Republic of Lithuania
  • Company seal if such is required by founding documents or by laws
  • Sample card of signatures and seal (to be completed at the bank)
  • Application to Open a Bank Account (to be completed at the bank)
  • Questionnaire for Legal Entities (PDF, 800 KB), Questionnaire of the Ultimate Beneficial Owner (PDF, 500 KB), if the ultimate beneficial owner (beneficiary) of funds in the account is another person as well as Entity tax residency self-certification form (PDF, 572 KB)
  • Legal entity’s shareholding structure
  • Detailed written description of economic activities and business interests in the Republic of Lithuania.
  • Documents supporting the economic need of banking services in the Republic of Lithuania (e.g. agreements with business partners in the Republic of Lithuania, etc.)
  • 12 recent months’ statements of accounts from financial institutions whose services are used by the legal entity.
  • Annual Accounts

All these documents must be translated into Lithuanian and the translator’s signature must be certified by a notary of the Republic of Lithuania. The documents must also be legalized according to the laws and regulations of the Republic of Lithuania.

The bank may ask you for additional documentation, information or explanation where this is required according to laws and regulations.

Please send all the required documents by email at non-residents@seb.lt. Following the document verification, which may take up to 3 months, the customer will be contacted personally.

When a temporary accumulation account is opened for a company under incorporation

  • The Memorandum of Association or the Incorporation Agreement of the legal entity or its notarized copy
  • A notarized power of attorney to sign a bank account agreement issued by the founders, if the bank account agreement is signed by someone else than the founders and such authorisation is not established in the Memorandum of Association or in the Incorporation Agreement
  • Application to Open an Accumulation Bank Account (to be completed at the bank)

When a bank account is opened for bailiffs, attorneys, notaries or farmers

  • A taxpayer's registration certificate
  • An order of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania on the appointment of an individual to the position of a bailiff, if the account is being opened for a bailiff
  • A certificate issued by the Lithuanian Bar Association which grants the right to practice as lawyer, if the account is being opened for an attorney
  • A decision of the Lithuanian Bar Association to include an individual in the Lithuanian List of Legal Assistants, if the account is being opened for a legal assistant
  • An order of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania on the appointment of an individual to the position of a notary, if the account is being opened for a notary
  • The original copy or a notarized transcript of the registration certificate of a farm, if the account is being opened for a farmer
  • Application to Open an Account (to be completed at the bank)
  • Questionnaire for Legal Entities (PDF, 800 KB)

1 The fee is applied for every bank account of a customer.

2 Administration of incoming payments in all currencies transferred within SEB Bank and administration of incoming payments in euro from other banks registered in Lithuania, the EU, the EEA countries, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino and Andorra.

3 All legal persons having their registered office outside Lithuania are classified as non-resident customers.

4 The fee applies to corporate customers registered in the Republic of Lithuania if at least one of such corporate customer’s founders or its beneficial owners is a natural person who complies with the definition of a private individual non-resident customer as set out in the Bank’s Pricelist for private individual customers or for corporate non-resident customers. The fee shall be payable before the verification carried out by the bank and before the bank's decision on starting business relationship with the customer, also each time when during the relationship with the customer, the founders or beneficial owners of the customer are replaced by persons complying with the definition of private individual non-resident customer as it approved within the bank.

5 ABF may be applied to Legal entity which the Bank will individually notify 10 working days in advance about the introduction of ABF.
ABF is calculated at the end of each calendar day based on that day’s respective currency Central Bank interest rate for the Legal entity whose total balance of current accounts in respective currency exceeds specified threshold for that currency. Only the amount in excess of specified threshold for respective currency is charged with ABF by multiplying excess balance with ABF rate.
ABF to be expressed as absolute value (i.e. module) in percentage terms and would not be applicable should respective currency rate become equal or exceed zero.
ABF to be debited during the month from the account of Legal entity based on balances of the previous month under the procedure set in The General Rules on Provision of Services of SEB Bankas AB.

6The fee shall be applied to customer, payment or electronic money institution, in case on behalf of such a customer there is at least one special deposit account opened for safekeeping of third party funds. The fee provided in the pricelist shall be applied irrespectively of the actual number of special deposit opened.
