European payment

Payments in euro

  • To other Lithuanian banks
  • To other SEPA area countries

SEPA payments in euro are made in accordance with uniform rules and payment standards to all SEPA area countries (all the EU Member States, Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein).

This type of transfer is beneficial when you need to transfer funds in euros to accounts in the EU Member States as well as in EEA.

Main features:

  • If you file your payment order before 4:00 p. m., the money will be credited to the remittee's account already on the same business day
  • Transfer charges are shared between the remitter and the remittee (SHA)

Money to other banks registered in Lithuania and the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) banks are transferred every day, except weekends and international holidays: New Year's Day (January 1). Easter Good Friday, Easter on the second day, international Labour day (May 1st.), the first and second Christmas day (December 25-26.). Crediting time to the recipient's account in the bank registered in Lithuania and in other EU or EEA banks in the Republic of Lithuania and the EU or EEA countries on other holidays depend on the beneficiary's bank.

Order fulfilment duration

European payments to other Lithuania banks and to EU and EEA banks are executed:

* If payment order is submitted after 4:00 p.m., on the weekend or international holidays (including Easter Good Friday), money shall be credited to other bank’s account around 9:00 a.m. on the following business day.
** Time depends on beneficiary’s bank.

Express European payment

In case of Express European payment if payment order is given until 4:00 p. m. on business day, money shall be transferred immediately, however money credited to other bank’s account may be delayed as it depends on remettee’s bank.

If money is transferred to you from an account opened with the other bank in Lithuania, the bank in EU and EEA countries, it will be credited to your account on the same day when money reaches SEB bank.

What should you specify to the remitter for money to be credited to your account?

If you are expecting money to your account with the SEB Bank, you are required to specify to the remitter:

  • The correct number of your account with the SEB Bank in the international IBAN format (the funds are credited to the account based on that number)
  • Your first name and surname (entity’s name)

Please note that when we credit money to the account we check the account number but we don’t check other details.

1 This payment includes transfers in euro to other banks registered in Lithuania, the European Union, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra and the European Economic Area countries – Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein. The payment order must bear the payee’s IBAN format account.

2 Funds according to a SEPA payment order are transferred on banking days and Lithuanian public holidays (if they do not coincide with international holidays) on the same day, if a payment order is given before 4:00 p.m. Funds transfers according to a SEPA payment order are not executed on Good Friday.

3 If an order for an express European transfer of funds is given on banking days before 4:00 p.m., funds are transferred immediately, however, in some cases it may take time, as the time of funds crediting to the payee’s account will depend on the payee’s bank.

4 SHA – a payer pays SEB Bank commission fees, a payee pays other bank commission fees, except where a fee cannot be debited to the payee's account in accordance with the rules set by other bank.

5 If the payer has a limited availability of funds on the account and a freely available amount is established EUR 3 charge is applied.

There are three ways you can transfer money to your or to any other person’s account in Lithuania, European Union and  European Economic Area countries: online, via mobile Internet or by visiting our bank unit:

  • Log in to the internet bank, select “Payments” → “New payment”, complete the required fields of the electronic payment order and confirm the transaction
  • Visit a SEB bank unit of your choice, present your personal identity document and a payment order
