Our team consists of 60 professionals working in Stockholm and Vilnius. We develop SEB Big Data Platform that enables the use of data across the enterprise, including technical capability development and delivery of Data Lake use cases. We have started a number of scaling activities to enable other departments to onboard and use data independently: our focus is currently shifting towards self-service capabilities and supporting other teams via different services.

Investment performance prediction


Being the largest supplier of credit and debit cards in the Nordic countries, SEB has collected a large amount of richly tagged transactional data for consumer purchases, from the amount of a transaction to the place where it was executed. Big Data Platform is what enables SEB to perform statistical analysis on this data and use it to predict future investment performance, identifying behavioural patterns, segmentation and other trends.
 

Investment breach detection


Our Private Banking division noticed the way they were detecting investment breaches could be improved. The main efficiency challenges arose from only partial access to data –  Private Banking and Group Risk Control divisions weren’t considering the same data. Once we started using Big Data Platform to keep all data in the Data Lake, it opened up a lot of new possibilities, making it readily available for both departments at any time.
