The foundation of your financial activity

Nowadays, if you want to take care of your daily financial needs smartly, a bank account is a must. With a bank account you can perform required transactions online, on your cell phone or at a bank unit with speed and convenience.

You can open an account by visiting a bank unit of your choice.

When you have a bank account, you can:

  • Keep and save your money in the account securely
  • Withdraw cash from your account at any bank unit, from ATMs and other outlets
  • Receive your salary and other income to your account
  • Receive money transferred to you from bank accounts in Lithuania and abroad
  • Transfer money to other accounts in Lithuania and abroad
  • Buy and sell foreign currency
  • Manage your money conveniently, pay for services online, via a cell phone or by visiting a bank unit
  • Link a payment card to the account

Deposits up to EUR 100,000 are insured by VĮ Indėlių ir investicijų draudimas.

Once you have arrived at a SEB bank unit of your choice, you have to:

  1. Show one of the following personal identity documents:
    • Passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania
    • Personal identity card of the Republic of Lithuania
    • Passport of a citizen of a foreign state
    • Personal identity card of an EU Member State, Liechtenstein or Switzerland
    • Permit for temporary or permanent residence in the Republic of Lithuania Foreigner's passport of the Republic of Lithuania
  1. Complete a questionnaire for natural persons:

  1. Sign a bank account management agreement

If other persons open a bank account on your behalf, you can start using it right away – you don’t need to visit the bank. The person who opens an account for you will have to additionally present the bank with:

  • your power of attorney certified by a notary
  • copy of your personal identity document certified by a notary

If a bank account is being opened for a person aged under 14, the questionnaire must be accompanied with the following:

  • One of the above-specified personal identity documents of both parents, adoptive parents or guardians
  • The child’s birth certificate or an extract of the birth entry from the Civil Registrar‘s  Office
  • An agreement of both parents, adoptive parents or guardians on the management of the child’s property, in the form defined by the bank
  • A notarized consent of the absent person to the disposal of the child's property (if one of the parents is absent)
  • A court judgement which states that the child lives with one of the parents if the account is opened by one of the parents with whom the child’s residence is established by a court judgement (if the parents are divorced or separated).

If a bank account is being opened for a person aged between 14 and 18, the following is required:

  • All the above-listed documents
  • If the parents, adoptive parents or guardians want to allow the under-aged person to dispose of the funds contained in the account independently, their respective written consent

The bank may ask you for additional documentation, information or explanation where this is required according to laws and regulations.

The account switch service is when your newly chosen payment service provider and your current payment service provider help you to transfer with your bank account related payment services at your request.

What services can you transfer from another payment service provider?

From another payment service provider you can transfer:

  • Periodic payment agreements
  • SEPA direct debit agreements
  • Periodic income (at your request the bank can provide a sample application form to inform third parties about the change of your account)

How to transfer services?

Visit a SEB bank unit of your choise and complete an application for the account transfer service:

2 Administration of incoming payments in all currencies transferred within SEB Bank and administration of incoming payments in euro and Romanian Leu from other banks registered in Lithuania, the EU or EEA countries or Switzerland.

3 Customers whose country of residence is outside the European Union.
